Blockchain company DECENT today released a mandatory update 1.4.0 to its proprietary DCore blockchain platform. The major update introduces several new features, including the integration of non-fungible tokens (NFT), easier installation and upgrading of DCore nodes as well as an increase in the limit of co-authors supported in the revenue splitting functionality (now up to 10,000 co-authors).
According to DECENT’s release notes, the update resourcefully integrates a technology known as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) inside the DCore ecosystem. Non-fungible tokens—a virtually fresh addition to the blockchain scene—are tokens which actualize exclusive digital assets.
Unlike custom tokens, which can be also created on DCore (equivalent to Ethereum’s ERC-20), each non-fungible token is thoroughly unique and represents a particular asset which is unable to be replaced by another token. These tokens have, so far, been predominantly used in crypto gaming, mostly known as “crypto collectibles,” homologous to the thought-provoking blockchain game, CryptoKitties. Their usage may be further extended to creating unique tickets, passes, validations, ID cards, and game items inside the blockchain landscape.
Another addition involves a simplification of installation and upgrading of DCore nodes. Users will no longer be required to manually download installation packages during the upgrading or initial installation of DCore nodes. This feature is currently available for the Debian, Ubuntu (APT) and Fedora (DNF) Linux distributions.
The last major feature includes an extension of the number of permitted co-authors incorporated in DECENT’s revenue-sharing system. Up until now, DCore supported revenue sharing with up to ten co-authors (i.e., accounts). Per present-day market demands, the latest update now allows all revenue to be split between up to 10,000 accounts.
Matej Michalko, CEO and Founder at DECENT, commented on the new release: “With each update to our DCore ecosystem, we provide our users with a progressively improved experience and riveting new features to help turn their blockchain ideas into reality. Considering the growing portfolio of projects running on DCore, we look forward to any fresh projects that would incorporate the new features, such as non-fungible tokens.”
With the update released on July 2, DECENT asks its miners to update to version 1.4.0 before July 11, 2019, 08:00 UTC to avoid missing blocks from their nodes.
