KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Sept. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- In the recent release of June 2019 ACCA examination results, three students from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College ('TAR UC') emerged top in Malaysia and among the best in the world with their impressive scores.  

Lau Jia Yi (leftmost) came in Top in Malaysia and 4th in the world for Advanced Performance Management Paper. Tim Wei Yinn (centre) emerged as the Top Affiliate in Malaysia and ranked 6th in the world. Yong Kar Jun (rightmost) ranked the 2nd Top Affiliate in Malaysia and 7th in the world. He also came in Top in Malaysia and 6th in the world for the Advanced Taxation paper.

Tim Wei Yinn and Yong Kar Jun, both TAR UC Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) students, emerged as the Top Affiliate in Malaysia (ranked 6^th in the world) and 2^nd Top Affiliate in Malaysia (ranked 7^th in the world) respectively. Kar Jun also came in top in Malaysia (ranked 6^th in the world) for the Advanced Taxation paper. As for another Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) student Lau Jia Yi, she took the honour of being the top in Malaysia (4^th in the world) for Advanced Performance Management paper. For Jia Yi, this enviable achievement was not the first time as previously she was placed top in Malaysia and ranked 4^th in the world for the Strategic Business Leader paper in the December 2018 ACCA examinations.

"I did not expect to achieve anything this time so I was genuinely surprised when I received the notification from ACCA," said Jia Yi. "Achieving such good results the first time was already a big achievement for me. Being able to obtain an award for the second time is really a blessing."

Jia Yi will be entering the workforce this November as an audit associate. "I hope to gain as much exposure as possible to increase my knowledge in different industries."

After coming through with flying colours, Wei Yinn and Kar Jun both shared that their achievements were a result of hard work and determination. "I went through the whole syllabus and tried my best to understand it and not just memorise it," said Wei Yinn. "This to me was something very important as it made it easier for me to recall important things needed during the exam."

Kar Jun on the other hand said that the best way for him was to start revision as early as possible. "I think the most challenging part of the ACCA examination was that there were plenty of theories and models you need to understand and be able to apply in real life situations."

Both students credited TAR UC for helping them excel in the ACCA examinations and thanked their lecturers for the support they had shown.

"The Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) programme syllabus is in line with that of ACCA. Preparing for internal exams was a way for me to prepare for the external ACCA exam as well," said Wei Yinn. "During our final year, we were prepared to sit for the final 4 ACCA Strategic Professional Level papers."

Agreeing with her, Kar Jun also related that TAR UC's internally assessed programme had provided him with the fastest route to obtain his ACCA qualification. "I plan to kick-start my career in corporate taxation which is something that I wish to specialise in in the future," he said.
