From November 17 to 20, an International Game Exhibition 'G-STAR' was successfully held in BEXCO, Busan Metropolitan City, with much attention from game industry officials around the world. Held in every November, 'G-STAR' has been a festival place for many people related to games by arranging a year, expressing gratitude to fans, and introducing new games and technologies that will be presented later.

The host city of 'G-STAR,' Busan is trying to show the appearance reflecting its name 'the city of game' on the basis of know-hows accumulated by hosting 'G-STAR' for many years after 2009. At the center of its movement, a lot of game businesses that are trying to realize dream at Busan are also joining.

Busan is continuing many activities with Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency for supporting the game businesses showing those active movements, and 'Busan Global Game Center (BGC),' opened in September 2015, became a facility for game industries in Busan. BGC is established for fostering game industry specialized to Busan and Gyeongnam area and supporting its inroads into global markets. ▲ Talking about the service game and future plan with Lee Chang-hyeong, a co-representative of FingerCat Games

Participated in the 'Busan Games Pavilion’ in BTB hall of 'G-STAR 2016', FingerCat Games launched a role-playing game called 'Hero Collection' at the same time when it was established in June 2015. Currently, three developers, including one developer, one planner and one graphic designer, are in the process of developing games and are developing games optimized for 2D graphics.

"We cannot exclude the first work ‘Hero Collection’ when talking about the company. It is a side-scroll action roll-playing game with the story that a high school student, Kim Yong-sa, plays a game at home and gets sucked into the game world to help the princess and the country. Users can meet various characters through a drawing system and grow them to capture powerful dungeons.”

As a feature of ‘Hero Collection,’ Lee Chang-hyeong, a co-representative of FingerCat Games, pointed out that the game allows the user to enjoy the best play without limitations to the specifications of the device through the 2D graphics instead of 3D graphics. Since the company need not worry about optimization of the game, their development power can be used at developing a wider variety of contents, which makes it easier for them to expand contents.

In addition, he emphasized that, unlike other games, a selling point of 'Hero Collection' is that it reduces the delivery time of the tickets required for game play and diversifies the acquisition methods so that users can continuously play the game.

▲ The biggest feature of ‘Hero Collection’ is avoiding dispersion of development power by selecting 2D graphics.

On the other hand, about the games that the company wants to develop in the future, he explained that he would like to develop a casual role-playing game based on the experience of 'Hero Collection' and develop the company’s ultimate goal, 2D MMORPG, by accumulating the experience. His opinion is that even without 3D graphics, 2D can provide much pleasure if various contents are placed properly.

"The reason why we want to create an MMORPG is that we want to include community elements that can be enjoyed by other users while the game we are serving now is a one-player game. It would not be easy to do, but I think that if we keep getting experience, one day we will be able to bring the game we wanted to the world.”

As a part of the plan, FingerCat Games is developing a game called 'Changing Hero' aimed for the second and third quarters of next year. Customizing of character is a main content of this game, and its goal is to play the game in a bigger worldview.

In addition, Lee Chang-hyeong did not forget to express his gratitude to the users who play 'Hero Collection'. This is because the users made it possible to get along with the development up to now and the opportunity in the future.

"We are always grateful to all our users who love our game. Based on the feedbacks about the bugs occurred at every update, we keep changing into perfect appearance. I believe this experience will definitely help us in the next game, and we are working hard every day to give back fruition. We ask for your attention."

Meanwhile, under the support from Ministry of Culture and Busan City, Busan Global Game Center (BGC) fosters game industry specialized to Busan and Gyeongnam area and supports its inroads into global markets. At BGC in Busan Cultural Contents Complex (BCC), under the close cooperation, Busan City and Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency are creating new industry ecosystem for specialization, development and independence of region game industry through integrating game companies, attracting offshore companies, fostering startups, and training developers.
