Porsche Korea Announces Business Performance and Brand Growth Strate-gies Ahead of the E-Mobility Era

Porsche Korea (Holger Gerrmann, CEO of Porsche Korea Ltd.) held the ‘Mid-Year Press Conference 2020’ at ‘Porsche Studio Cheongdam’ on the 16th and 17th, and presented its successful business performance for the first half of 2020 along with its future brand growth strategies.

The ‘Mid-Year Press Conference 2020’ is Porsche Korea's first media event of the year, as events have been cancelled for the last 6 months due to the spread of COVID-19. This conference was held by Porsche Korea to look back on major achievements in the first half of the year and to share major plans and visions for the second half.

“Porsche Korea has sold more than 4,200 units in both 2018 and 2019 consecutively, paving the way for Porsche's future product strategy, which focuses on emotional gasoline, powerful hybrid and progressive electric vehicles,” said Holger Gerrmann, CEO of Porsche Korea, and added, “Also, during the first half of 2020, we launched several appealing models such as Porsche’s iconic model and epitome of sports cars, the 8th generation new 911, and the brand's first coupé-type SUV, the Cayenne Coupé, and recorded a meaningful sales performance of 3,433 units as of May in 2020.“

Porsche Korea plans to build a more abundant product portfolio than ever in the se-cond half of the year, starting with the hybrid models of the Cayenne and Cayenne Coupé, followed by the Macan GTS, the 911 Targa, the Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, and the Taycan.

In particular, the release of price information and plans for the launch of the Taycan, Porsche's first pure electric sports car, in the second half of the year drew keen me-dia attention. In addition, Porsche Korea emphasized that in pursuit of its long-term goal of ‘Value Generating Growth’, which goes in line with Porsche AG's brand strategy that creates the future of sports cars, it will continue active investments in the Korean market to lead the new E-mobility era.

Porsche Korea plans to introduce its entry model, the ‘Taycan 4S’ in the second half of this year, followed by the ‘Taycan Turbo’ and ‘Taycan Turbo S’ in 2021. The first ‘Taycan 4S’ to be released is priced at 145.6 million KRW, while the ‘Taycan Turbo’ is priced at 195.5 million KRW and the ‘Taycan Turbo S’ at 233.6 million KRW.

Porsche Korea is also focusing on building the electric vehicle charging infrastructure to set the stage for the successful launch of the Taycan and for the E-mobility era. Starting with E-Mart Seongsu and Yangjae, the company is preparing to install Korea's first 320kW HPCs (High Power Chargers) in 9 Porsche Centres and 10 major locations across the country, as well as AC chargers at 120 destination charging stations nationwide.

In addition, Porsche Korea is also working to strengthen its network and services to meet customer’s demand and to provide a unique brand experience through contin-ued investment in Korean market. Its nationwide dealer networks are expanding; the second ‘Porsche Approved Pre-Owned Car Centre’ opened in Yangjae after the showroom in Bundang in the first half of the year, and Porsche Korea is planning to open a showroom and service centre in Changwon and Suwon, as well as a new Porsche training centre in the second half of the year.

Above this, Porsche Korea has been taking on social responsibilities through 'Por-sche Do Dream' CSR campaign since 2017. This year, Porsche Korea will be intro-ducing the ‘Porsche Dream Circle’ campaign, which reduces energy costs in low-income areas by installing solar panels and creating forest environments, and also plans to further expand CSR programs interlinked with sustainability values.

“Through the launch of the new iconic model Taycan, which connects the brand‘s past and future, the year 2020 will mark as a historical milestone for Porsche Korea, which has gone through stages of ’change’ and ‘investment’ in pursuit of sustainable growth,” said Holger Gerrmann, CEO of Porsche Korea, and emphasized, “We will successfully launch various new cars, including Porsche’s first pure electric sports car, the Taycan, and establish ourselves as a brand that represents the future of sport cars.”

Meanwhile, at the event held in the new retail format ‘Porsche Studio Cheongdam’, which marked its first anniversary since its opening, the ‘Daniel Arsham Porsche 911’, was unveiled for the first time in Asia, adding significance to the special event. The ‘Daniel Arsham Porsche 911’ is a reborn 911 in collaboration with Porsche and world-renowned artist Daniel Arsham.

The one and only ‘Daniel Arsham Porsche 911’ based on the timeless machine, the 8th generation new 911 Carrera 4S, revolves around Daniel Arsham’s art concept of archaeology and time erosion. Effect of the unique matte finish white paintwork with clear geometric quartz features punctuating the body panels combine to underline the inner strength of a car that has stood the test of time.

Porsche Korea is displaying the ‘Daniel Arsham Porsche 911’ at Porsche Studio Cheongdam from June 22nd to July 9th, and will be available for visits under pre-reservations.
