DESARU COAST, Malaysia, July 1, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Desaru Coast Destination Resort ("Desaru Coast"), Malaysia's largest integrated and curated destination, has resumed operations with proactive destination-wide operations and health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) protocols. The protocols were established since the beginning of the movement control order (MCO) period in mid-March to ensure the safety and well-being of the workforce and guests across the destination.

The health and safety protocols were put in place to enhance the destination's Stay Well @ Desaru Coast programme which was developed to strengthen Desaru Coast's precautionary and mitigation measures as well as increase awareness in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. Stay Well @ Desaru Coast is a dual-prong approach that has significantly strengthened the destination's precautionary measures since the global virus outbreak. On the awareness outreach, the programme aids in continuously reminding both guests visiting the destination as well as all employees to stay vigilant and apply recommended social distancing and personal hygiene practices to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

"Since the outbreak of the pandemic, we have activated our health and safety protocols as a firm commitment to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests and employees. We are optimistic that the Malaysian tourism and hospitality sector will slowly recover as we  start to see an encouraging response from the domestic market since the recent announcement of recovery movement control order (RMCO).

However, today, more than ever, our guests and employees need to be reassured of our ability to provide a safe stay at our destination. For us, as a destination resort operator, the most important factor is the level of confidence that we can give to holidaymakers, to make Desaru Coast their destination of choice. It's not just about attractive prices, but what we do to build and provide the level of confidence so that holidaymakers can travel here and enjoy their break with peace of mind.," said Roslina Arbak, CEO, Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn. Bhd.

In the current absence of vaccines and effective drug treatments for Covid-19, Desaru Coast is maintaining a strict approach in continuing the level of awareness and heighten sanitisation  practices across all its properties. All employees at the destination are mandated to adhere to the HSSE recommendations based on the Malaysian Health Ministry and World Health Organisation guidelines

Arbak explained, "More than ever, technology is rapidly shaping the travel and hospitality landscape. To ensure safe distancing, hotels in Desaru Coast are adopting contactless check-in and room entry options as well as contactless menu order in the restaurants to ensure the safety of staff and guests. Covid-19 has accelerated these trends and with it, comes new realities."
