STANFORD, California, Aug. 27, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- The Stanford Center for Professional Development opened applications for the Innovative Teaching Scholars (ITS) program for Thai university educators to receive pedagogy training from Stanford University and develop their scholarship of teaching and learning. The no cost program will equip Thai educators to create student-centered learning experiences and prepare students with 21st century skills for success in an innovation-based economy.

The application deadline is September 4, 2020. Thai university educators and administrators can learn more and apply now at: https://scpd.stanford.edu/innovative-teaching-scholars-program-thailand.

To qualify, applicants should be current educators from Thai universities who are eager to represent their institutions and open to trying new ways of teaching, collaborating with a community of like-minded peers, and sharing their expertise with colleagues at their university and beyond. The ITS program will focus on teaching skills, frameworks, and methods that participants can integrate immediately in their courses in a way that will enhance, and not disrupt, their course curriculum and plans.

The first stage of this two-phase program will be a 9-week virtual training from September to November 2020, comprised of workshops, dedicated coaching in small groups, and self-paced projects to help educators improve their own courses. During stage two, from January to June 2021, participants will continue deepening their practice and expertise as innovative educators in a community of practice. They will meet as a cohort and in small peer groups, with dedicated coaching support. Moreover, to provide participants with a peer to collaborate with at their home institution, educators must apply in pairs, alongside one other colleague from the same department. The highly interactive program will be conducted in English, so a professional working proficiency of the English language is required.

The Innovative Teaching Scholars program is supported by the Stanford Thailand Research Consortium (STRC), which focuses on Stanford faculty-led research and education projects pertinent to development areas for Thailand's future. The STRC is managed by the Stanford Center for Professional Development, is collaborating with the Southeast Asia Center (SEAC) in Thailand on consortium projects, and is supported by funding from AP (Thailand) Public Company Limited, Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited, and KASIKORNBANK Public Company Limited.
