Actors KWON Yul & HAN Seonhwa to Host the 27th Busan International Film Festival’s Closing Ceremony

Actors Kwon Yul and Han Seonhwa have been confirmed as co-hosts for the 27th Busan International Film Festival Closing Ceremony.

The 27th Busan International Film Festival has announced Kwon Yul and Han Seonhwa as hosts for the closing ceremony, which will take place on Oct 14 (Fri). The closing ceremony will hold the red carpet ceremony, the screening of the closing film, A Man, by director Ishikawa Kei, and award ceremonies, such as the Actor & Actress of the Year Award and New Currents Award.

Actor Kwon Yul, who will be interacting with the audience as one of the closing ceremony host, visited the Busan International Film Festival in 2014 and 2019 with the films The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2013) and Champion (2017), respectively. On being invited as the host for the 27th Busan International Film Festival’s closing ceremony, he was quoted, “It’s an honor to be able to enjoy the finale of the festival with the audience as host of the closing ceremony. As it is the largest cinematic ceremony in Asia, I will do my best to provide an appropriate finish to the festival.”

Actress Han Seonhwa, who is heightening the audience’s anticipation with her first visit to the Busan International Film Festival this year, is steadily building a solid filmography with her performances in both films and drama series. She shared her excitement by saying, “Thank you for inviting me as the host for the closing ceremony on my first visit to the Busan International Film Festival. I will do my best to ensure that the 27th Busan International Film Festival can have a grand finale with the participating film professionals and audience.”

Kwon Yul has showcased his versatile acting abilities through diverse characters and genres from Yi Hoe in The Admiral: Roaring Currents (2013), to romance in Let’s Eat 2 (2015), and the chilling villain in Voice 2 (2018) and Voice 3 (2019). Currently, he is showcasing his charisma as Gu Tae-man in Mental Coach Jegal (2022). The Policeman’s Lineage (2021), which premiered in theaters earlier this year, is expected to meet the audience at this year’s BIFF as an official selection of the Korean Cinema Today – Panorama section.

Actress Han Seonhwa, who started her acting career in 2013, exhibited delicate and emotional portrayals in the films Cinema Street (2021), A Letter from Kyoto (2022), When Winter Comes (2022), and many others. Han Seonhwa, who has been actively participating in various projects such as Marriage, Not Dating (2014) and Backstreet Rookie (2020), has recently received many accolades from the public for her impeccable portrayal of the beautiful yoga instructor, Han Ji-yeon, in Work Later, Drink Now (2021)

The 27th Busan International Film Festival will be held for 10 days from Oct 5 (Wed) to Oct 14 (Fri) at the Busan Cinema Center.
