NEW YORK, March 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- New research from the International Alumni Job Network (IAJN) and Nielsen of 5,232 international student graduates shows that 89% are satisfied with their overall experience as international students, yet only 72% are satisfied with the return on investment from their international education.

The International Student & Alumni Satisfaction Survey interviewed graduates from Mainland China, India, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam.

The 56-page Global Comparison Report compares Australia, UK, USA, Canada and New Zealand as study destinations for international students.

The research covered three areas:

  • Employment and Earning Data for International Students After Graduation & Current Income
  • Satisfaction with the Country of Education
  • Satisfaction with the University / College Experience

The research used Net Promoter Score (NPS) to determine if international student graduates recommend their University/College and Country of Education to future students.

Kruskal Driver Analysis is then used to determine the percentage of International Graduates who Promote, Detract or are Neutral of their University and Education Country when it comes to recommendation and the Key Drivers for this decision to recommend or not recommend.

IAJN founder Shane Dillon said the "reverse culture shock" of returning home and the lack of support in terms of securing employment lowered graduates' satisfaction with the return on investment from their international education.

"Student recruitment needs to be managed better by universities to make sure the promises made by recruiters are accurate in terms of pathways to citizenship, work rights in the country of education and likely income, so that students have realistic expectations from the beginning," said Mr Dillon.

Other reports produced from the research cover specific Countries of Education (Australia, UK, USA) and individual University Alumni Reports (Available on Request).
