‘Cortex-A73,’ which has less than 0.65mm2 of area per core in 10nm FinFET technologies, is the smallest and the most effective high-performance ARMv8-A core. Compared to ‘Cortex-A72,’ the product shows improvements of 30% at both sustainability performance and power efficiency.
Sustainability performance is raised up to the peak performance at the most, and it runs to 2.1 times that of ‘Cortex-A57’ and 1.3 times that of ‘Cortex-A72.’ It shows higher performance, but power consumption is lower than the existing products.
Due to improvements of the size and efficiency, chipmakers can make more developed product in case of configuring ARM big.LITTLE with ‘Cortex-A73,’ and developers can variously extend or reduce high-performance core with GPU in a single SoC as well as other IPs.
ARM said that ‘Cortex-A73’ would provide improved mobile experience to users by taking charge of one side of premium mobile IP product line.
