The 'Bee’lieve in Dreams–Park' project expands on Porsche Korea's previous urban beekeeping initiative. This year, the focus was on renovating an aging park to help improving biodiversity preservation and to make a contribution to the brand’s sustainability efforts.
Through improving the vegetation of Jangpyeong Neighborhood Park and creating a rain garden carefully designed for the ecosystem, the project aims to address local ecological issues and contribute to the development of green infrastructure to enhance park equity within the city.
The project’s first step involved repairing aging fountain facilities and planting various new trees to create a harmonious, nature-inspired space. The square’s drainage system was improved, and a rain garden that utilizes rainwater was installed.
In the rain garden, over 20 types of new trees suited to the area’s vegetation and soil environment were planted to set up an ecosystem where small birds and insects can coexist. Additionally, obsolete facilities were improved according to community needs, and construction waste from the renovation process were reused to minimize environmental impact.
The Bee’lieve in Dreams rain garden is expected to address ecological issues in Dongdaemun-gu, where the proportion of parks and green space is relatively small while also providing a community hub for citizens to gather, interact, and relax.
On November 14th, Porsche Korea held a ceremony to commemorate the completion of the 'Bee’lieve in Dreams–Park' rain garden. At the event, Porsche Korea CEO Mathias Busse, Dongdaemun-gu Office Parks and Urban Green Space Division Head Jongchul Park, Seoul Green Trust Chairman Youngsun Ji, and other related personnel attended to emphasize the importance of conserving biodiversity and fostering ecological sensitivity.
Additionally, a community engagement program where citizens can plant Linden viburnum and bulb plants in the rain garden also provided an opportunity to participate in conserving the ecosystem and experience a meaningful connection with nature.
Porsche Korea CEO Mathias Busse stated, "'Porsche Bee’lieve in Dreams–Park' has revitalized an aging park through eco-friendly elements to create a sustainable ecosystem where diverse flora and fauna can coexist." He added, "Through this project, we hope Jangpyeong Neighborhood Park will evolve into a space where visitors can relax amidst beautiful nature and actively engage in discussions on biodiversity."
Since 2021, Porsche Korea has added to the brand’s sustainability strategy through ‘Bee’lieve in Dreams,’ an urban beekeeping and green space expansion project, in collaboration with Seoul Green Trust.
