The deadline for voting is Friday, July 18 at 11:59 p.m. (JST). For more information on how to vote, please visit the official Japan Game Awards website after Monday, June 9.

◾ The target sales period will change

In previous years, the "Annual Work Category" was open to titles released between April 1 and March 31, but from this year, the titles released between June 1 and May 31 and the target release period have been changed.
This year, which marks the transition period, titles released in Japan between Monday, April 1, 2024, and Saturday, May 31, 2025, will be selected, and the No. 1 game title of the year will be selected from among them. Due to the change in the target release period, the start of public voting will be changed from April to June.

This year, those who voted will be selected by lottery to select various game consoles such as PlayStation®5 Pro, Nintendo Switch™ (OLED model), and Xbox Series X, as well as "Game of the Year" award-winning software or related goods, and Tokyo Game Show 2025 admission tickets. and a special invitation to the Japan Game Awards "Game of the Year Category" announcement ceremony, and a total of about 300 people will receive luxurious prizes. Since its establishment at the 5th Japan Game Awards held in 2000, the Best Sales Award has been awarded by selecting and commending the titles that have sold the most units in the domestic market.
However, in recent years, many works have been sold as downloadable versions, and since it has become difficult to grasp the number of titles sold, we have decided not to select them from this year.
