The Department of Tourism (DOT) announced that Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) secured the Airport Customer Experience Accreditation from the Airports Council International (ACI World), making it the first and only airport in the Philippines. This recognition has more significance as it is from the prominent global aviation body.

ACI, Airport Council International is a non-profit organization, whose prime purpose is to advance the interests of airports and to promote professional excellence in airport management and operations. It serves 1925 airports in 171 countries. Airport Customer Experience Accreditation program was launched in 2019 to encourage and help airports assess and improve their customer service and experience approach.

“Mactan-Cebu International Airport has been constantly striving to improve customer experience by making check-in process smooth and adding a wider range of restaurants and shopping options at the airport. This “first-in-the-Philippines” accreditation is our pride and recognition for the efforts made by all of us” Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said.

Being the second largest airport in the country, MCIA serves over 11 million foreign and local travelers every year and a total of 25 airlines operate 25 domestic and 36 international routes. MCIA was also recognized by ACI in 2021, receiving the Airport Health Accreditation, highlighting passenger and personnel health and safety.
