7 December 2023 saw LOT Polish Airlines presenting its new video on on-board safety rules in the premises of the National Museum in Warsaw. The setting of the video instruction for passengers takes place in the 19th Century Art Gallery, surrounded by Polish masterpieces. The material has been shot using a modern, storytelling approach – featuring paintings by Jan Matejko, Olga Boznańska, Jacek Malczewski, or Józef Mehoffer. The unexpected delivery of safety instructions with the help of museum interiors and artwork aims to keep the viewer’s attention just before the journey and is one of the important elements of the brand experience.
In addition to its self-evident informative purpose, the video serves an important branding function. LOT is a Polish brand operating globally. By having our aircraft in foreign airports, not only are we a natural promoter of Poland and its best attributes, namely hospitality and kindness, but we are also a carrier of culture and national heritage. The new safety video corresponds to our ESG (Environmental, Social, Corporate Governance) strategy, in which promoting Polish culture is one of many aspects. Inviting the National Museum into this project was a perfect way to accomplish our goal. We would like to jointly invite the public aboard the welcoming LOT Polish Airlines and the unique interiors of the National Museum, says Ewa Lampart, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications Department, LOT Polish Airlines.
The new safety video has been shot within the remarkable interiors of the National Museum in Warsaw – the 19th Century Art Gallery . It boasts around 300 pieces – masterworks primarily of Polish paintings, but also a selection of works by French, German, Austrian, Russian, Dutch, and Finnish artists. The gallery captures the richness and diversity of the trends of that period.
From the very outset, we knew that the main background for the safety video would be the 19th Century Art Gallery – the most visited gallery in the Museum, attracting more than 300 thosuand visitors every year. It is where you can marvel at the works of key artists in Polish culture such as Olga Boznańska, Jan Matejko, Józef Mehoffer, Jacek Malczewski, Józef Chełmoński, and Julian Fałat. The Museum fulfils its mission of preserving and making its collections accessible, which are an important part of the national heritage, in multiple ways. It goes without saying that one of the most interesting ways to target new audiences is through collaborations with various entities and unusual projects. Whether music videos, thrillers, or social campaigns – all of these projects have been produced on our premises, and each has showcased the Museum’s collections from a slightly different perspective. We are delighted that the Museum’s collection continues to be discovered and inspires different communities and through our collaboration with LOT, the works of art that are usually housed in the 19th Century Art Gallery will travel with passengers to the most remote corners of the world, says Kornelia Szpunar, Director’s Representative for Communications and Education.
The safety video forms a part of the important pre-take-off procedure. Under the Passenger Safety Briefing Regulation drawn up by the EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency), an airline is obliged to instruct passengers about safety on board. Safety video is the footage broadcast during every flight preparation. At LOT Polish Airlines, it refers to flights operated with Boeing 787-8 and 9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Krystyna Czubówna, well known to LOT passengers, remains the voiceover for the pre-take-off safety briefing, while a safety video version in sign language is being prepared as well.
Idea and supervision of the production of the new safety video: Agencja Grey Worldwide Warszawa. Directed by: Adrian Chudek. Post-production: Coloroffon. Composer: Marek Domański. Production house: Prime Time. Producer: Barbara Poznański, Aneta Bieniek.
