'KLP48' is AKB48's first sister group in Malaysia. Since it was announced on January 1st of this year, preparations are continuing in advance of its debut in August, 2024.

It has been decided that former member of AKB48 and SKE48 Jurina Matsui will work with KLP48 as a player manager.

Since the formation of AKB48 and throughout the entire 19-year history of the AKB group, Jurina Matsui is the sole recipient of the title of 'Winner of the International Senbatsu General Election'.

Now, as the new 48 group KPL48 makes its debut, they are fortunate enough to receive the support of Ms. Matsui, who will assist management with advice and cooperation at their request.

Management wish for Ms. Matusi to share a wide range of thoughts and opinions by leading KLP members by example, and they are also eager for Ms. Matsui to share the stage with the group as an artist, a request she is happy to oblige.

They are thrilled that she will lead group members in Malaysia, who are giving their all to this new challenge, to become the top idol group in the world.

Ever since Ms. Matsui became the youngest ever person to be chosen as part of a senbatsu in 2008 at the age of '11 years and 228 days', she has continued to play a central role at the heart of the AKB48 group. Leveraging the wealth of experience, she gained up until her graduation from the group in 2021, she can be expected to share great insights with KLP48 members.

Management would like to express their most sincere thanks to Jurina Matsui, whom they hold in the utmost respect, for making the big decision to become a 'player manager' despite having previously graduated.

In 2018, she ranked first in the 'AKB48 53rd Single International Senbatsu General Election' in which members from AKB48, SKE48, NMB48, HKT48, NGT48, STU48, JKT48, BNK48, TPE48, all participated.
A total of 3,836,652 votes were cast in the 'International Senbatsu General Election' from all across the world. Following a fierce contest, Jurina Matsui managed to come first, with 194,453 votes.
