WHITE SCORPION, an 11-member idol group produced by Yasushi Akimoto, was formed after a six-month audition process. On September 4th at 21:00, they released the music video for “Ugoku Kuchibiru,” the lead track from their debut mini-album Caution.
The music video was directed by Ryohei Shingu, following their previous work “Satisfaction graffiti”.
The music video opens with all 11 members emerging from darkness in front of a cracked black wall in an abstract setting. In this shadowy, stage-like world, each member performs while facing the wall. The wall symbolizes an emotional boundary, a major obstacle for the girls who hesitate to move forward, serving as the central motif of the music video, representing their separation from others.
The members’ sharp, questioning gazes in the wall’s shadows leave a strong impression, making the music video a profound work.
The song symbolically echoes the message, “If you don’t express your feelings, nothing will begin,” serving as a response to their debut single, “Manazashi Sniper”
When viewed as a series, the two songs connect and deepen the narrative. During live performances of “Ugoku Kuchibiru,” the group even incorporated the “sniper pose” from their debut single “Manazashi Sniper” during the “Your flickering eyes (Yureru Manazashi)” segment. This song represents a perfect culmination of the group's early days.
ACE of WHITE SCORPION shared, “This music video highlights the individuality and strengths of each member. Compared to previous videos, there are more close-ups showing each person’s expression. The added choreography only for the MV enhances both the dance and lip-sync scenes. I hope viewers appreciate the effort and passion all the members put into these performances.”
Director Shingu commented, “I crafted the music video with a focus on defining WHITE SCORPION’s character. The girls convey their intense passion in pure honesty and the fleeting nature of youth, resulting in a work with strong theatrical quality. The challenge of dancing side by side highlights WHITE SCORPION’s unity and their strength in overcoming obstacles together.”
On September 11, WHITE SCORPION will release their first mini-album Caution, featuring the song “Ugoku Kuchibiru.” Just before the album drops, their sold-out debut solo concert will take place, promising fans a chance to be captivated by WHITE SCORPION’s irresistible charm.
