Embraer forecasts a robust demand for aircraft in the up to 150-seat segment in Japan over the next 20 years, driven by the replacement of older aircraft and the right-sizing of larger narrow-body fleets.

Enhanced E175 experience: The E175 will incorporate advanced features found on the E2 such as larger overhead bins, mood cabin lighting, new Recaro seats and multi-band satellite connectivity. Both Ku and Ka band satellite connectivity will be available for retrofit by 2026. Additionally, data transfer solutions and the weather radar will be upgraded to match the capabilities of the E2, enabling the digital transformation and wireless retrieval of flight data. The next generation weather radar provides turbulence detection and alert, predictive windsheer detection, and 3-D volumetric scanning.
E2 family advancements: The E2 family benefits from improved fuel burn, extended range, increased engine time on wing, and cabin optimizations. The revolutionary E2 Enhanced Take Off System (E2TS), the first for the industry will optimize takeoff performance, reducing required field length and pilot workload. This means more payload and increased range from challenging airports.

Furthermore, the C-390 Millennium multi-mission military transport aircraft can bring benefits for the Japanese defense and security sector. With a 26-ton payload, top speed of 470 knots, state-of-the-art systems and the ability to operate from unpaved runways, the C-390 is a versatile solution for various missions, including cargo transport, peacekeeping operations, medical evacuation, disaster management and air to air refueling. The current fleet of C-390 aircraft globally has accumulated more than 14,000 flight hours, a 93% mission capability rate, and mission completion rates above 99%, demonstrating exceptional productivity in the category. The C-390 has been selected by South Korea, the Netherlands, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal and Brazil.
This same dedication to delivering innovative solutions is reflected in Embraer's commitment to the future of Japanese aerospace through Eve Air Mobility (NYSE: EVEX & EVEXW). The company, which was spun out of Embraer’s innovation incubator, Embraer-X, is actively contributing to the development of a robust advanced air mobility (AAM) ecosystem in Japan. As a member of Japan's Advanced Air Mobility Public-Private Committee, Eve is working closely with the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport & Tourism on AAM regulations and policies for Japan.
In 2023, it was announced that Japan’s Nidec Corporation and Embraer will form a joint venture company to develop Electric Propulsion Systems for the aerospace sector. The company, Nidec Aerospace, combines the complementary synergies and distinct areas of expertise of two world-class engineering companies to spearhead a new era of air mobility.
The JV’s Electric Propulsion System launch-customer will be Eve Air Mobility as it develops its Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) vehicle.
