LOT Polish Airlines relaunched a connection between Warsaw and Larnaca. After being welcomed aboard by the Polish carrier’s flight crew, the passengers set off straight towards their Cypriot destination. After a flight that lasted 3.5 hours, they can finally enjoy the charms of the beautiful island located in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea.
In the winter season, WAW-LCA flights will be offered four times per week – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The frequency of connections will increase in the summer, when LOT will be inviting passengers aboard as many as 6 times per week (i.e. all weekdays, except for Tuesdays). As flights will be departing towards the sunny city of Larnaca at 10:40 am, passengers will be able to start enjoying all the attraction this unique Cypriot city has to offer, on the day of their arrival.
At LOT Polish Airlines, we are aware of Larnaca's attractiveness as a tourist destination. According to data from the Cypriot statistical office, in 2023 Poland was the third-largest market in terms of the number of tourists who visited Cyprus. With the travel-related preferences of Poles taken into consideration, introduction of this particular destination into our flight network was an obvious move. Due to its location and the abundance of attractions, Larnaca is a perfect place where one can relax at virtually any time of the year - says Robert Ludera, Director of LOT’s Network & Alliances Department.
Maria Kouroupi, Director of Aviation Development, and Communication at Hermes Airports, stated that: We are happy to welcome LOT back to Cyprus at a time that the demand between Poland and Cyprus is developing very well. LOT has always been an important partner and the introduction of flights during the winter period, aligns with our goal to enhance year-round connectivity of the island. We look forward to working with LOT to expand their presence in Cyprus further.
Sandy paradise on earth
Picturesque, sandy beaches and the delicate sound of the waves resemble a movie set or paradise and are one of the definite advantages of Larnaca. The city’s coastline is dotted with perfect relaxation destinations. Some of them are more crowded, while others offer a retreat from the urban hustle and bustle. The Mackenzie beach is a perfect representative of the former category. Its location close to the promenade, boosted by numerous cafes and restaurants, is a guarantee of great fun. The number of beach clubs does not disappoint as well, and aviation enthusiasts will definitely be lured by the perfect view of planes taking off and landing from the nearby airfield. When staying downtown, one should definitely succumb to the charms of Larnaca’s most popular beach - Finikoudes. In the evening, the place is simply teeming with life.
Wide range of attractions in the sun
Cyprus’ third largest city is also a go-to destination for all those preferring to relax in an active manner. Larnaca offers simply countless opportunities for enjoying water sports - from windsurfing, wingfoil and kitesurfing, to snorkeling, scuba diving and sailing. The city’s climate offers simply ideal conditions for beginners and advanced enthusiasts of all those forms of activity. In the mornings, the winds are usually calm, to pick ever so slightly during the day. This means that tourists may enjoy a full range of different experiences.
In addition to its unrivaled beaches, Larnaca offers also, in its vicinity, a number of historic locations and monuments, as well as places of great cultural significance. The majority of the city’s attractions are located in its center, allowing visitors to admire picturesque views while exploring Larnaca on foot. The highlights include some of the religious monuments. The Orthodox church of St. Lazarus, located in an imposing 9th century building, is definitely one of them. The sightseeing route should also include the famous Hala Sultan Tekke mosque, located on the bank of the Salt Lake. Built in the 18th century, the mosque is considered to be the resting place of Umm Haram - Muhammad’s aunt.
But it is the Salt Lake - as mentioned above - that is Larnaca’s greatest attraction. In winter, it serves as a home for a great number of bird species, including the pink flamingos. The ability to observe flocks of those unique creatures strolling against the backdrop of natural landscapes is a truly breathtaking experience. In the summer, on the other hand, the lake often dries up, creating a white, salty crust that creates a great contrast with the blue skies above.
One flight - numerous opportunities
Cypriots traveling to Poland, in turn, will be thrilled by the country’s rich history, a great variety of landscapes and a cuisine that is rich in different flavors and aromas. Poland offers a number of attractive mountain and seaside destinations to meet the needs of even the most demanding visitors. Strolling in the Białowieża National Forest in the fall? Enjoying the Karkonosze Mountain trails in spring? Or perhaps exploring the Great Masurian Lake District in summer? All that, and much more, awaits adventure-hungry Cypriots visiting Poland, especially taking into consideration the fact that LOT Polish Airlines’ flight schedule allows to conveniently transfer in Warsaw and quickly reach the majority of Poland’s other airports.
