From September 15 to 18, ‘Tokyo Game Show 2016’ was opened at Makuhari Messe, Chiba ken, Japan.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary this year, ‘Tokyo Game Show 2016,’ the show that represents Japan, is co-hosted by Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) and Nikkei BP, and specially cooperated with DWANGO. The event is organized into a business-day on September 15 and 16, when only game business people and mass communication officials can enter, and a public-day on September 17 and 18, when all the visitors can enter.

Before the opening of ‘Tokyo Game Show 2016,’ Bandai Namco Entertainment (BNEI) progressed a presentation event ‘2016 Pre-TGS Press Tour,’ which introduces the new titles from its office located in Tokyo. In this event, it presented the major titles facing releases from BNEI and explained their features.

Through this presentation, a session of ‘Digimon World Next Order’ for PlayStation 4 was progressed. Kazumasa Habu and Gota Goto, Producer and Director of BNEI, respectively, were presenters for the session.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary in 2017, ‘Digimon’ has been loved for a long time in various platforms such as animation ‘Digimon Adventure’ and video games. It is considered a typical example of successful ‘One Source Multi-Use (OSMU).’ As the latest game of ‘Digimon’ franchise, ‘Digimon World Next Order’ is newly released into PlayStation 4 version after its release into PS Vita platform.

‘Digimon World Next Order’ has three major concepts; ‘Raising,’ raising Digimon to make it strong, ‘Adventure,’ meeting many characters and finding items, ‘Battle,’ competing the ranking and boasting of one’s strongness.

The game play is largely divided into activity and battle at the field, and while moving among fields, it is possible to contact by continuing actions such as having conversation or exchanging specific items like food. The battle works in the way that the user gives order and Digimons fight as ordered, and, by using powerful skills that can be obtained during growth process, it becomes possible to efficiently progress the battle.

According to the announcement, it will be released with the same title, but PlayStation 4 version of ‘Digimon World Next Order’ has many differences from its PS Vita version, which was released earlier. It tried to have new look by drawing background more realistically and producing new texture instead of simply raising resolution of graphic.

The balance of the game is also changed. Since the users who played PS Vita version sent opinions that the game is too easy, in PlayStation 4 version, the difficulty is diversified to easy-normal-hard, and the easy mode is a more difficult than PS Vita version. Habu said, “The main target of this game is the core users who steadily enjoyed ‘Digimon,’ so, there will definitely be uncomfortable elements for young users to accept, for example, when Digimons they raised die depending on the progress.”

Meanwhile, ‘cross play’ and ‘cross save’ functions, which are applied to the recent multi-platform games in PlayStation series, are not supported. This is because when developing PlayStation 4 version, the differences of story, content and difficulty got bigger, so playing at the same situation became impossible.

‘Digimon World Next Order’ for PlayStation 4 version will be released in 2017, in North America, but its release in Korea is not decided yet.
